Chris Bumstead, the retired six-time Classic Physique Olympia champion, has shared a video of himself completing a 60-inch box jump. In the clip, he takes a running approach before exploding onto a five-foot stack of Hammer Strength boxes and sticking the landing.

Accompanying the Instagram post, Bumstead wrote, "Apparently a 60 inch box jump was too easy of a goal. Now I need to be able to do it without the run-up." He added, "Honestly it's just fun to be able to express some of my training in different ways to see how I'm improving. Still a long way to go, but I'm proud of the progress."

According to generationiron.com, the box jump is the latest sign of how Bumstead's training priorities have shifted since leaving the Olympia stage. During his competitive career, his regimen centered on hypertrophy and the size, symmetry, conditioning, and proportions needed to dominate Classic Physique. Since retiring, he has increasingly worked on strength, mobility, explosiveness, and overall athleticism, incorporating sled work, sprint mechanics, and rotational movements. The outlet has previously reported on a dedicated strength phase in which he focused on improving his squat, bench press, and deadlift.

Bumstead has said his goal is to stay muscular while becoming more capable athletically. His next challenge is already set: performing the same five-foot box jump from a standing start, without the running approach.
